Designed by award-winning architects Dualchas, the Bothan offers a contemporary, comfortable stay for two people. Situated in the south of Skye, in the village of Tarskavaig, this stylish property has spectacular views of the nearby Tarskavaig Bay and the more distant islands of Eigg, Muck and Rum. Tarskavaig Bay sits within the Sleat peninsula, also known as 'The Garden of Skye'. It is the less discovered or explored part of the island, dramatic and beautiful. With the backdrop of the Cuillin mountains, every stroll from the Bothan is peaceful and nature filled. With no light pollution, the night skies offer fabulous opportunities for star gazing; sometimes the Northern lights can be seen. If you wish to wind down and relax then this is the place for you.
Tarskavaig is a traditional, crofting village. It has a village hall that hosts music events, traditional ceilidhs, and in the summer a local baking cafe, which transforms into a soup and pudding club in the winter. Guests are always welcome at events. Tarskavaig Bay is good for swimming and kayaking, and lochans are close by for easy paddle boarding. Walking and cycling opportunities are plentiful. With a keen eye, there are also seasonal foraging opportunities for chanterelles, brambles and wild garlic.
The Bothan gives guests an opportunity to enjoy calm, cosy accommodation with additional seating outdoors to embrace the "getting away from it all" feeling. With birch ply doors and integrated units, the space is considered and uncluttered. It has micro-cement floors and under-floor heating. There is a comfortable king-sized bed in the bedroom. The living space has a wood burner and a luxurious corner sofa, and the large windows slide open to allow a sea breeze in, if wanted. With a fully equipped kitchen, smart TV, games, books, and suggestions for walks, it is easy to stay local.
'The location is perfect if you are looking for something peaceful ... the view is breathtaking .. the extra care put on facilites and the attention to detail ... the concern about our comfort and wellbeing.'
