The Bothan & Airigh

Self Catering | Isle of Skye

Designed by award-winning architects Dualchas, the Bothan and Airigh offer a contemporary, comfortable stay for two people in each separate property. They both have micro cement floors with under floor heating and large sliding glass doors to the front allowing access to the outside or to allow the sea breeze in. With birch ply doors and integral furniture the spaces are considered and uncluttered but comfortable and relaxing. Each property is private from the other as they are built in a staggered formation on a sloping site. Guests have access to the utility facilities with washer and dryer that is shared by both dwellings and located at the top of the plot in a separate building.

Situated in the south of Skye, in the village of Tarskavaig, these stylish properties have spectacular views of nearby Tarskavaig Bay and the more distant islands of Eigg, Muck and Rum. Tarskavaig Bay sits within the Sleat peninsula, also known as 'The Garden of Skye'. It is the less discovered or explored part of the island, dramatic and beautiful. With the backdrop of the Cuillin mountains, every stroll from the Bothan or Airigh is peaceful and nature filled. With no light pollution, the night skies offer fabulous opportunities for star gazing; sometimes the Northern lights can be seen. If you wish to wind down and relax then this is the place for you.

Tarskavaig is a traditional, crofting village. It has a village hall that hosts music events, traditional ceilidhs, and in the summer a local baking cafe, which transforms into a soup and pudding club in the winter. Guests are always welcome at events. Tarskavaig Bay is good for swimming and kayaking, and lochans are close by for easy paddle boarding. Walking and cycling opportunities are plentiful. With a keen eye, there are also seasonal foraging opportunities for chanterelles, brambles and wild garlic.
